Caring For Your Davaar

  • Your Davaar has been meticulously crafted from the resilient natural fibre of sheep's wool. While your Davaar will be with you for years to come, there are important ways to best care for your garment so as to maintain its premium condition.

  • Washing

In a world where almost everything can be popped in the washing machine, your Davaarwon’t do well in that environment. The good news is that wool is naturally stain and odour resistant so very little washing is required. We suggest handwashing in cold water with an approved wool detergent, once or twice a year — just to keep it fresh.

    Pilling

The fibre scanning technology we use at Davaar Station enables us to select woollen fibres with the ideal characteristics and strength, so when rubbed against each other they stay perfectly intertwined in the yarn. This technology and attention to detail results in a refined garment with minimal pilling and enhanced durability. The sweater stone does a wonderful job of removing the pills — should you encounter any. You will find instructions on how to use the sweater stone and ability to buy your own at: davaar.nz/care

    Mending Yarn

The swing tag on your new Davaar is attached with yarn that can be used to mend any small holes or snags. Simply pop it in the envelope with this care card and save for a rainy day.

  • Storage

The outstanding qualities of wool extend its use in a range of climates. However, sometimes a season may prove just too hot for regular wear of your Davaar (although summer nights around the bonfire are when a trusted Davaar performs best!). Should you wish to put your Davaar away for the warmer months, we suggest this is a great time to give it a hand wash so it’s wonderfully fresh as you reach for it again when the nights close in and things get a little cooler. Once washed, ensure your garment is completely dry and store it folded in a dry wardrobe or drawer, not hung to ensure it maintains it's shape.

    Preventing Snags

It is the nature of any knitted garment that it can be prone to being caught on protruding objects. For this reason, we recommend removing your jewellery when handwashing and keep an eye on belt buckles too.
